Four performance-based tasks probe distinct channels of cognitive processing within Hartmann's conflict-free ego sphere.

• Stroop Color-Word Task — Executive inhibitory control. The capacity to suppress a prepotent automatic reading response in favor of color naming.
• Lexical Decision Task (LDT) — Lexical-semantic processing speed. Indexes the cascade from visual feature extraction through semantic retrieval.
• Auditory Working Memory Task — Phonological storage with executive manipulation. Forward and backward recall within a single trial.
• Mental Rotation Task — Visuospatial processing. The capacity to generate, maintain, and manipulate spatial representations.
