Cognitive Task
Trail Making Test — Parts A & B
The timed connect-the-circles task measures visual scanning and psychomotor speed in Part A, then adds set-shifting in Part B. Connect numbered circles in order (1 → 2 → 3 …), then alternate numbers and letters (1 → A → 2 → B …). The report derives completion times, error profile, dwell/transit measures, and the raw B−A set-shifting cost from the recorded trail.
- Four stages in a fixed order: Practice A → Part A → Practice B → Part B. About 5–8 minutes total.
- Draw one continuous line through the circles with your finger or mouse — keep contact the whole way, like a pencil on paper. If you touch a wrong circle you will be stopped immediately and must return to the last correct circle; the clock keeps running.
- Each test part has a 300-second limit. Work as fast as you can without making mistakes.
- Use a quiet moment and a steady surface; a larger screen is easier than a small phone.
Raw scores only. This administration uses generated alternate circle layouts and a touch/mouse response mode, so published paper-and-pencil norms do not apply and are not shown. Your results are raw, within-person figures — completion times, an error profile, and the B−A set-shifting cost. It is not a diagnostic instrument and not a substitute for clinical assessment.
